Last week, House Bill 1374 – a measure that would allow municipalities to vote to create Oklahoma Public Safety Protection Districts to provide services such as law enforcement and fire protection – passed out of the House of Representatives.

The proceeds collected would be used to pay for the operation and maintenance of the district, including things like equipment and salaries and benefits of employees, but only for public safety.
