For over a century, the Black Post, on the south side of Highway 152 about six miles east of Cordell, has been a place for someone to go someplace else. Sometime after the opening of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Reservation in 1892, the post became a starting point to direct settlers and others to their destinations.
