Gerald Leon Holland died at his residence in San Angelo, Texas, on June 26, 2015. Hewas 86 years old. He was born on February   4, 1929, on the family farm in Cowden, Oklahoma, to Dolphus and Maude Holland. Leon received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1954 fromOSU. He served as an officer in the Army Signal Corps in Germany from 1954 to 1956. Gerald Leon Holland After his military service he returned to OSU and obtained a PhD in ruminant nutrition with a minor in biochemistry, graduating in 1960. After graduation, he accepted a position as an animal science professor at an OSU extension in Ethiopia where he was soon promoted to head of the Department of Animal Science.In 1970, Dr. Holland became the first head of the Angelo State University Department of Agriculture and served in that position for 23 years. Leon was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ralph and Noel; and one sister, Jewel. He is survived by wife, Mary Francis Holland; two sons, James and John; one daughter, Deborah; and five gran children, Tim, Scott, Cyanna, Eli,and Ike.
