Bruce McKinley Welch, age 56, a resident of Willow, Oklahoma, passed away at the Elkview General Hospital in Hobart, Oklahoma, on Saturday, April 25, 2015. Bruce was born in Tularosa, New Mexico, on September 29, 1958, to Vernon McKinley Welch and Mildred F. (Bingham) Welch. Bruce was raised in La Luz, New Mexico, and later moved to Duncan, Oklahoma, with his family in 1973. He graduated from Velma Alma High School in 1976. He enjoyed gardening, old cars, truck driving, and spending time with his family and friends. On September 6, 1980, he married the love of his life, Brenda Annette Neece at Prairieview Baptist Church Elk City. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dill City. Bruce was a devoted husband, father, and friend who will be deeply missed. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jamie Welch; and father-in-law, Glen Neece. Survivors include his wife of almost 35 years, Brenda Welch of the home; a son, Jason Welch and fiancée, Christina Chambless of Willow, Oklahoma; a daughter, Shelly and husband John Smith of Willow, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Savanna, Jessica Lynn, and Ariel; two sisters, Martha and husband Jerry Kirkpatrick of Duncan, Oklahoma, and Verna K. Welch of Duncan, Oklahoma; motherin- law, Mary Lou Neece of Elk City, Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at People’s Cooperative Funeral Home Chapel in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma, with Jimmy Pricket, officiating. Burial followed at the Willow Cemetery in Willow, Oklahoma. A Memorial Fund has been set up for the Welch Family at the First National Bank in Mangum and Granite.
