IraDean Botchlet was born to Ira and Amy (Holcombe) Dowdy, March 17, 1928, in Nashville, Arkansas, and passed away September 29, 2014, at the age of 86. As an infant IraDean and her family moved to Cordell, Oklahoma. She attended school in Cordell and graduated in 1946. IraDean attended college at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma. On November 4, 1949, IraDean married Coy Botchlet in Carlsbad, New Mexico. To this union one daughter was born, Beverly Botchlet- Smith. IraDean worked in the Washita County Assessor’s office for 34 years. In 1982, IraDean was the first woman elected as the Washita County Assessor. After retiring in April of 1993, she enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed attending the shows in Branson, Missouri. IraDean enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Coy Botchlet in 1997. Survivors include: daughter Beverly Botchlet-Smith and husband Chuck; brother Gordon Dowdy and wife La- Queta of Bakersfield, California; three grandchildren, Amy Smith, Elizabeth Smith and David Smith; three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends. Services will be held for IraDean Botchlet at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4th, 2014, at the 4th and College Church of Christ, Cordell, Oklahoma, with Ronnie McKee and Gary Rollins officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnview Cemetery, Cordell, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Musick-Varner Funeral Home Cordell, Oklahoma.
