Rita Ann Beach, 58, was born on August 9, 1955, in Jacksonville, Illinois, to Frank and Betty (Pressy) Castleberry. She passed away while visiting family on June 12, 2014, in Carlinville, Illinois. She married the love of her life, Mike Beach, on November 8, 1974, in Carlinville, Illinois. In 1978, they moved to Cordell, Oklahoma, where they have made their home for the past 36 years. Rita has made a great impact on many lives while living in Cordell.
She genuinely cared for many people, none more important than the children she cared for wile working at Daycare Depot, Cordell Schools, and most recently, Cordell Head Start. Rita had a natural ability of taking care of others. Rita and Mike have helped many children while living in Cordell. “Miss” Rita has left a legacy which will live on for many years through children, young adults, and adults she has known, comforted, cared for, and loved unconditionally. Rita was very proud of Mike and all of her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family, attending garage sales, playing cards with the kids, spoiling her dog Bandit, and collecting marbles, especially the ones Mike made, She loved life and all of the people in it. Her contagious smile and cheerful voice will be missed by many. Rita is survived by her husband, Mike of Cordell; five brothers and four sisters, David Castleberry of Farmersville, Illinois, Willard Castleberry and wife Karen of Atoka, Oklahoma, Frankie Castleberry of Tishamingo, Oklahoma, Robin Castleberry of Athensville, Illinois, Allan Castleberry of Athensville, Illinois, Cheryl Dugger and husband Rick of Palmyra, Illinois, Jean Sturgiss and husband CJ of Lane, Oklahoma, Vicky Castleberry of Farmersville, Illinois and Cathy Mayhue and husband David of Coleman, Oklahoma, step brothers and sisters, Roger and Fran Goodman, Gene and Jan Goodman, Terry Goodman, Lee Goodman, Zelma Naugle and Patsy Scoggins; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends. She is also survived by her God-Children, Tonya Houseman, Tammy Edwards, Heather Davenport, Katelynn, Kolby, and Kara Dowel and their parents, Marcus and Kristen Dowell. Rita was preceded in death by her parents and her mother and father-in-law, Helen Roberta Goodman-Thurston and Frank Goodman. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at the Targhetta and Wooldrige Funeral Home in Medora with Rev. Ray Robinson officiating. Burial was held in the Medora Cemetery.
