As a small child, Lowayne Piercey might have thought visiting three states was a lot, let alone all 50!
“I seriously started thinking about 30 years ago that it would be fun to visit all 50 states, so it became my bucket list item,” Piercey stated.
“For our 40th anniversary, our kids blessed us with a trip to Hawaii, and for our 50th, we made it to Alaska. With the two furthest conquered, I started marking one off here and there through the years.”
Throughout these past years, Lowayne would visit a state through serving on the State Farm Bureau Women’s Committee or attending a National School Board Convention with her husband, Jimmy.
“About two years ago, I still lacked around twelve, but they were in two different patches. Last October, we were able to see the beautiful landscape of Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska.”
This left six final states that the Pierceys were able to visit this past October.
“We went at a perfect time,” Piercey said. “The trees were beautiful and exactly what one would see in the magazines.”
Flying into Boston, the final six states were Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, and finally Rhode Island, the 50th.
“Everyone should have a bucket list, whether it be great or small. Do something you enjoy or just want to do. To finish something on your list gives you a feeling of satisfaction. America is a great place to visit. I guess I will have to start another list, but maybe a little smaller this time.”
