ALL SPORTS BOOSTER CLUB PLAYS VITAL ROLE SUPPORTING CORDELL’S BLUE DEVIL TEAMS

goalsWhile Cordell’s sports teams see a myriad of support from residents all over town, the Cordell All Sports Booster Club aims to try and support the high school teams in a more direct manner.

Describing itself as “committed to promoting excellence in Cordell High School athletics by building Blue Devil Pride through CHS athletic programs” the club lists off multiple ways in how it does exactly that.

The club lists four goals that involve supporting the athletes, getting parents and the community involved, providing teams with financial support, and maintaining the history and tradition of excellence.

Throughout the years, the club has continued to try and fulfill these goals in the form of occasional fundraisers with some of them going as far back as 1979 according to club spokesperson Amanda Reimer.

“Each year the club meets and fundraises throughout the year,” she said. “There have been all kinds of fundraisers, lots of people mentioned they remembered the Indian Taco dinners they used to do 20 or 30 years ago!”

In more recent years, the club has held a reverse lottery, sold chances, and raffled off items to raise funds to support the sports teams.

While fundraising helps, the club also relies on members and businesses of the community to be able to host things such as the All Sports Banquet where student-athletes are recognized.

“The Booster Club asks the coaches of each sport what their needs are and we try and fill the need or at least assist with it,” Reimer said.

Money raised through sponsorships also goes towards things such as purchasing warm-up uniforms, providing the team with meals for out-of-town games, and caps and equipment such as items for the football workout area.

“We have so many businesses and individuals who have supported the Cordell Booster Club for years and years. Every membership is so appreciated,” Reimer said. “In a small community, we count on our supporters!”

This year, Cordell Schools has around 70 student-athletes that participate in multiple sports throughout the year.

Parents of student-athletes in ninth through twelfth grade are welcome to join the Cordell All Sports Booster Club.

“The Cordell All Sports Booster Club is open to any person or business interested in supporting Cordell student-athletes,” Reimer said. “To find out about parent meetings, fundraisers, or how to become a member, check out our Facebook page!”
