A truck driver from Tecumseh was injured in a one-vehicle traffic collision Monday morning south and west of Cordell in Washita County.

State Trooper Jared Boese identified the injured driver as Stetson Paul Perez, 23.

The trooper reported Perez was transported by Air Evac to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in stable condition with trunk internal injuries.

Trooper Boese said the collision occurred about 11:30 a.m. on U.S. 183, 0.2 miles southwest of County Road NS 2220 Rd., approximately three miles south and 2 ½ miles west of Cordell.

He said Perez was driving a 2001 Mac semi-truck.

The trooper reported the truck was southbound on U.S. 183 when it ran off the roadway to the right at a curve in the road.

The truck struck a delineator, barb wire fence and rolled .5 times, coming to rest on its top.

Perez was pinned for about 45 minutes and freed by four fire departments on the scene.

The trooper stated in his report that condition of the driver at the time of the wreck was apparently normal. Cause of the collision is under investigation, the trooper said.

Seat belts were equipped and in use by the driver.

Trooper Boese, of the Custer County detachment of Troop H, was assisted by Cordell Fire Department, Rocky Fire Department, Bessie Fire Department, Clinton Fire Department, Cordell EMS, AIR EVAC, Washita County Sheriff’s Office, and Cordell Police Department.
