WPLS launches 2026 Summer reading program

The Western Plains Library System is inviting area children and families to dig into a summer full of books, learning, and entertainment with its 2026 Summer Reading Program, “Unearth A Story,” running from May 18 through June 26.

Reading her way to the top! Cordell Elementary third grader Espy Cardenas racked up an impressive 203.8 Accelerated Reader points in Mrs. Feltman’s class, proving that one great book can lead to many more.

City’s Spring cleanup dates announced

To assist citizens with keeping their properties well maintained and clean, the City of Cordell will be offering a Spring cleanup from May 26 – 29, weather permitting. To be included in the cleanup citizens must complete a sign-up form and submit it at City Hall.
