The Cordell Elementary and Junior High Blue Devil football teams wrapped up their seasons in hardfought matchups against the Hobart Bearwees and Bearcubs. With both teams giving their all on the field, the final scores showcased the highs and lows of an exciting foo tball season.
In the elementary showdown, the Blue Devils faced the Hobart Bearwees in a challenging game, ending with a 16-32 loss for Cordell. Despite the defeat, the young Blue Devils never faltered and continued to leave it all on the gridiron until the final whistle. Aiden Findley powered through the defense for a rushing touchdown, while Tyson Dickerson contributed with an impressive receiving touchdown. Though the scoreboard wasn’t in their favor, the team showed potential and immense improvement, giving fans a glimpse of the future of Blue Devil football.
The Junior High Blue Devils had a different story to tell. Facing the Hobart Bearcubs, they fought their way to a well-earned 34-24 victory. Chayse Norris was a standout player, breaking through the defense for a long rushing touchdown and adding another to the scoreboard with a punt return. Bentley White had an excellent performance with two receiving touchdowns, while Jaxon Davis added one more through the air, contributing to the Blue Devils’ end-of-the-season victory.
This final game was bittersweet for many, as it marked the last elementary or junior high game for several athletes who will soon move up to the next level.
Coach Bruce Munden expressed pride in his teams’ efforts, stating, “The boys played hard and fought for every yard. It was a successful season, and we’ll build on this momentum moving forward.”
The Blue Devils may have closed the book on the 2024 season, but the foundation laid this year will, without a doubt, lead to greater things in the coming seasons.
