Annual Event raises over $16,000 in support of Cordell athletic programs

    The 2022-2023 football season kicked off last Thursday, August 11, at the annual Meet the Players and Pie Auction event. The support from fans and sponsors was pouring from the stands.

    The Cordell Blue Devil Football team raised $13,000, and the Cordell Cheer team raised $3,700 through the auction of pies that found both willing and un willing faces. The money raised from this fundraiser helps to aid in travel expenses for the football boys and cheer girls.

    The excitement for the start of this years season was radiating from the players and cheerleaders across the field.

    “This year was the first time that I had the opportunity to be pied. Luckily, it was my own daughter that had the privilege to pie me. If you were there or have seen the video, you know she got me good! I would be willing to take a pie to the face everyday to support these kids!” expressed Cordell Football Assistant Coach Buddy Holman.

    “The pie auction was a big success this year! We appreciate everyone that came out and supported us. We have started the foundation of a great program this year and we’re on the way up,” said Holman.

    The first official game of the 2022-2023 season is set for Friday, August 26, at Mangum kicking off at 7 p.m.. Show your Cordell Pride and Go Blue!
