The Blue Devils ended our week on the wrong side of the scoreboard again Friday night. We traveled down to face the number two team in our district, the Apache Warriors. We went down short-handed and played the Warriors, on their homecoming, with 12 dressed out players. Once again, the guys played their hearts out and left everything on the field. They never gave up and fought hard until the final whistle.
Senior Aiden Middendorf made his starting debut at quarterback for us. Senior Danny Corbin was out with his lingering ankle injury. Sophomore Dayton Bartlett and Middendorf ran the ball for us most of the night. Yards were hard to come by against the stout Apache front seven. We had a couple of guys making the first starts of their careers. Sophomore Jayden Moncrief started for us on offense, while Freshman Jacob Vella started at nose guard. Both stepped in and did what we asked of them.
This week, we get to play in front of our home crowd. We will be welcoming the Hobart Bearcats to town on Thursday this week. That’s right! We get to play some Thursday night football! It’s also our annual Pink Out game. So get those pink shirts out and ready and come out and cheer on the Devils! Game time is 7:00. Go BIG BLUE! B.I.T.S
