Cordell School’s New Weight Room: A Game Changer for Blue Devils Athletes
Cordell School Superintendent Travis Victory is proud to announce the completion of the New Cordell Blue Devil Weightroom. Over the last year Mr. Victory has spearheaded this project to support the school’s student-athletes. Along with the support of the Cordell School Board and the hard work of the Cordell Maintenance staff led by Mr. Eddie Campbell, this project has been completed. The former football locker rooms, once a cornerstone of the athletic facilities, have been transformed into a state-of-the-art weight room available to all Cordell Blue Devil athletes.
Superintendent Victory, who has consistently prioritized enhancing both the educational and extracurricular experiences of Cordell’s students, recognized the need for a modern, accessible space to serve both male and female athletes. With this project’s completion, the Blue Devils now benefit from a weight room designed to meet the demands of a growing sports program while providing a safe and supportive environment for athletes across all sports.
The weight room features a variety of equipment to improve strength, endurance, and overall athletic performance. The new layout maximizes space, offering multiple stations where students can workout individually or in teams. Coaches and trainers now have the ideal setting to guide athletes through tailored workouts while emphasizing injury prevention.
“The renovation of the old football locker rooms into this new weight room is a huge win for our students,” said Superintendent Victory. “Our athletes deserve a top-notch facility, and, this along with numerous other projects, provides them with the tools they need to succeed in all of our Cordell Blue Devil Athletics.”
The impact of this transformation is already evident. Coach Bruce Munden has successfully restarted the Blue Devil Powerlifting team, with junior high powerlifters competing in their first meet in several years on J an. 21.
This renovation is part of a broader initiative to improve school facilities and provide students with the best possible resources for success. Other recent facility upgrades include the installation of a wooden floor and major remodeling of the basketball gym, the completion of fencing around the elementary campus to improve safety, and the upgrade of new flooring across all district campuses. These improvements—and many others—reflect Mr. Victory and the Cordell School District’s ongoing commitment to investing in its students’ futures and ensuring the Blue Devils continue to thrive for years to come.
