Cordell Blue Devils score a win against Rush Springs

Last Friday, the Cordell Blue Devil Football Team took their first win of the season in an exhilarating battle against the Rush Springs Redskins. The final score was Cordell 34, Rush Springs 26.

According to head coach Zane Trammell, the win was a result of the team trusting one another and utilizing their skills.

“We had a pretty frustrating first half, we moved the ball decently but repeatedly stalled in the red zone. We also struggled to contain the Redskins running back,” he said.

The team used their frustration from the first half in a constructive way, tightening up their game, and putting some points on the board.

“During halftime, we had a come to Jesus talk that really helped us get our ducks in a row. That talk helped us come back out on the field and play as a team with one heartbeat,” he said.

The victory was deemed a “team win” by Trammell.

Trammell also applauded some specific players who helped turn the tides of the game.

“Blaine Larsen had probably over 200 yards carrying the ball, and our offensive line worked their tails off and did a great job.”

This week the boys will face their long time rival, the Burns Flat-Dill City Eagles.

“BFDC is really competitive. We handled them last season, but it’s a new year and we know that Coach Schneberger is gonna have his boys geared up and ready to go. It’s gonna be a four quarter bout just like this was,” Trammell said.

The Cordell Blue Devils will play their next game on the road against the Burns Flat-Dill City Eagles; kickoff will be at 7:00 pm. The Cordell Cheer team encourages everyone to wear construction themed garb to this game to show your spirit while supporting our Blue Devil Boys.
