Cordell Blue Devil Football Report

Fall break started off rough for your Blue Devils this last week. We hosted the Hobart Bearcats Thursday night. Things escalated quickly and we just couldn’t get anything going our way. Week after week, the coaches are doing the best we can to prepare the players for what is coming against each team we face. This week was no different. Defensively, we game planned and for the most part, we did an ok job, contrary to score. We still have to work on the little things, but we’re working on improving from week to week.

Our guys are striving to be better. We have some guys that are getting more playing time that normally wouldn’t be due to numbers. We had 13 suited out this week. We shuffled some guys around, trying some in different positions. Senior Aiden Middendorf got the start again in place of injured Junior quarterback Danny Corbin. Aiden and Senior JD Maddox shared duties during the game. We were able to get on the board in the second quarter on a 31-yard Touchdown pass from Aiden to JD. Sophomore Dayton Bartlett again lead the way for us in rushing. We had some new lineman that were filling in and they were giving us time to throw the ball. We just have to get the completions when we have the chances.

This week the Mangum Tigers come to town. They are a pretty decent team on film. They have some good skill kids and they have a good line. We have been doing our work and trying to come up with a game plan to prepare for their passing attack. Mangum will come at us with multiple formations. They will show lots of movements and will motion in and out to draw attention away from where they are going with the ball. Our guys haven’t given up and will continue to fight start to finish. Kick off is at 7:00 Friday night at Blue Devil Stadium. If you can’t join us in person, tune in to Blue Devil TV on You-Tube. Mike and Dudley will be on, calling the game. GO BIG BLUE!! B.I.T.S
