Cordell athlete craves the bond that athletes create on field

Adden Zanghi has been in Cordell for as long as he can remember and takes great pride in being a Blue Devil.

Growing up as an athletic kid, Zanghi quickly became involved in sports and other outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing.

Zanghi dedicates his free time to his friends, family, and staying fit for upcoming games.

The local crossfit gym, Codeblue Crossfit, is where Zanghi works on his fitness in both baseball and football seasons.

Zanghi loves every sport that he plays, especially enjoying the inclusivity of baseball.

“Baseball is a sport for the underdog; no matter who you are, you have a place. Anyone can make the team,” Adden said.

Zanghi is very passionate about both baseball and football as a result of the brotherhood that is built between players.

“I care about sports because of the bond you have with your team,” he said.

Using football as a prime example, Zanghi believes that the comradery amongst the team is something unmatched.

“Football specifically, the stress we put each other through is unmatched. The blood, sweat, and tears we shed is hard for me to compare to anything else I've experienced in my life.”

The bond between Zanghi and his team helps him focus on the success of his team, rather than personal triumphs.

“In football, you learn to play for the people next to you,” Adden said.

Zanghi’s football coach, Zane Trammel, was pleased to have him on the field this year and commended his teamwork skills.

“Adden is passionate, a good teammate, and has a great work ethic. He isn't selfish and is willing to do whatever it takes to put his team in the best position,” Trammel said. “He gives as much effort in practice as he does in games. He is always tuned in and focused. Adden busts tail in the weight room and it has really paid off for him.”

According to Trammel Zanghi’s efforts have turned heads and showcased who he is as a person.

“He is a very physical player. Coaches from other high schools and universities have asked about him and the best way can describe him is just calling him a football player. Adden is the definition of the term,” Trammel said. “Adden is a solid kid that is on his way to being a good man. He is kind and treats everyone with respect. He is the kind of guy you like having around.”

Zanghi’s father is his biggest supporter, and who inspires him to be the man he is.

“My father is the humblest person I know. He always puts his life aside for mine, he’s my best friend,” Adden said. “I never have to ask him for help, before I even get the words out, he's right here for me. He is the best listener I know.”

Another man who had an impact on Zanghi’s idea of the man he should become is his grandfather.

“My pops has affected who I am in a big way, he has taught me so many life lessons,” Adden said.

Zanghi hopes to use his grandfather's teachings to make him more like his father.

“My pops has taught me to be thankful, respectful, and appreciative of the little things,” Adden said.
