BASEBALL
After some tough playoff matches, the Cordell baseball boys officially finished off the 2021 season with a record of 17-8.
Head Coach Bobby Blackburn commended the team on their efforts during the season, knowing that the boys worked hard to acclimate themselves in such a peculiar year.
“We finished 17-8, but it’s not where we wanted it to end. I’m proud of my team. It’s been a strange year all in all, but the boys adjusted at each turn. I’m already looking forward to next year,” Blackburn said.

Cordell 11, Sayre 1 Starting off their last full week of baseball before playoffs with a bang, the Cordell boys beat the Sayre Eagles in both matches of their double header game.
As the winning pitcher for the game, Dawson Willard struck out seven batters, with only one walk, and three hits. Along with his efforts on the mound, Willard had two nice assists during the game.
At the plate, Ryan Neeley, Raydon Kuehne, Blaine Larsen, and Shane Perkins led the team with 2 RBIs each. Along with being one of the top scorers in this game, Kuehne also hit an in the park home run.
Tues, April 20,
Cordell 13, Sayre 0
Eager to finish up the double header with another win, the Cordell boys held Sayre at 0 for the entirety of the game.
As pitcher, Adden Zanghi struck out four batters, and only allowed one walk and one hit.
At shortstop, Kuehne came up with two assists.
At the plate, Willard and Kuehne led the team with 2 RBIs.
Thurs, April 22,
Elk City JV 7, Cordell 3
The Cordell boys wrapped up their last big in-season week with a game against Elk City JV, which resulted in an unfortunate loss.
Kuehne took the loss on the mound with four hits, seven walks, and one struck out batter.
In the infield, Brady Reimer threw a dart to Kameron Rivera, who cut down a runner at home plate.
At the plate, Dane Corbin, Kuehne, Reimer, and Rivera led the team with one RBI.

Cordell 7, Elk City JV 1
In their final week of the 2021 season, the Cordell boys picked up another win over Elk City JV.
Zanghi, who pitched for three innings of the game, served as the winning pitcher. On the mound, Zanghi struck out seven batters, and only allowed a single hit.
Willard and Kuehne also pitched during this game, each throwing for two innings. Together, the pair struck out five batters, with only three hits.
At the plate, Reimer led the team with four RBIs.

Game 1
Thurs, April 29
Pawnee 14, Cordell 5
In the first match of the bi-district tournament the Devils went up against the Pawnee Blackbears.
The boys were rolling in the first three innings of the game, but their wheels began to fall off in the fourth.
Willard took the loss on the hill, striking out six batters, \allowing four walks, and seven hits.
Neeley, who came in as relief, allowed three walks and two hits.
At third base, Shane Perkins had a couple of nice plays.
From the plate, Willard led the team with 2 RBI.
Bi-District Tournament
Game 2
Thurs, April 29
Pawnee 4, Cordell 0
The Cordell boys took their second and final loss of the tournament in their second game against the Pawnee Blackbears, bringing their season to a close.
The Devils stayed in the game the whole way, but left nine runners stranded as they struggled to push across runs.
Zanghi took the loss on the mound with 11 struck out batters, two walks, and four hits.
Much like the last game, Perkins remained solid at third base.

In their final game of the season, the Cordell Soccer Girls took a tough loss in overtime.
