Blue Devils sports: The week in review

BASEBALL

As of press time, the Cordell Baseball Boys are 14-6 for the season, 6-4 in district play, with four games left in the season before playoffs.

Mon, April 12

Cordell 6, Mangum 3 In their first game of the short week, the Cordell team beat Mangum by 3. As the pitcher for the entire game, Dawson Willard struck out seven batters, with only two walks, and one error.

From left field, Brady Reimer threw out a runner at home, and Kameron Rivera had a nice TA at home.

On second base, Blaine Larsen showed great range, making four putouts and three assists. At the plate, Dane Corbin and Raydon Kuehne led the team with 2 RBIs each.

.Mon, April 12

Cordell 6, Mangum 3 In the second and final game of the week, the Cordell boys finished up their double header against Mangum with another win.

As pitcher, Adden Zanghi threw a jewel, striking out 15 batters, and only allowing one walk and one error.

In the infield, Kuehne and Larsen combined their efforts for a strong middle defense.

At the plate, Reimer and Kuehne each hit a home run, and Reimer led the team with 3 RBI.

GIRL'S SOCCER Tues, April 13

In their first and only win of the week, Erin Dudgeon scored four goals and Hannah Southerland scored one.

Alva 4, Cordell 1 In their first game of the week, Aiden Middendorf scored the team’s only goal.

W’ford JV 6, Cordell 1 In their final game of the week, Nash White put the team’s only point on the board.
