Troy Hubert Palmer, age 82, of Cordell, OK went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 11, 2025. Troy was born in Borger, TX on August 31, 1943.
He is survived by his only child Scott Palmer and wife Lanna of Cordell, Ok; three grandchildren Jordan Palmer, Kennedy Palmer, Grayson Palmer and great grandchild Sage His memory lives on with his brother Coyt Palmer and sister Julia Fortune.
Troy is preceded in death by his parents Hubert and Mary (Hulce) Palmer, sisters Mona Dees and Mary Shelton, and brother Kelly Palmer. He is also preceded in death by his wife’s parents Virgil & Pauline (Brown) Dawson and brother and sister-in-law Danny and Kay Dawson.
He was born and raised in Borger, TX where he eventually met his wife, Barbara and married in 1963. Their son Scott was also born in Borger, TX in 1967. Troy was an assistant Pastor in Borger while leading a singing group called the Ambassadors Twelve. The family later moved to Pampa, TX where they resided for 12 years. Troy and Barbara moved to Odessa, TX in 1985 where they lived until 2008 before relocating to Cordell, Ok. Troy had a very fulfilling career in the oil field, starting as a roustabout and working his way up to District Forman before retiring. Most of his career was spent with Kerr McGee Corporation for 32 years, then Devon Energy for seven years before retiring at age 62.
There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we were to have him as a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He was always ready and willing to help regardless of the circumstances. He faithfully cared for his wife for many years before she had to move to a nursing home. He will forever be loved and missed by his family and friends.
A dual memorial service will be held for both Troy and Barbara where they will be laid to rest together at Highland Park Cemetery in Borger, TX at 11:00 on Friday February 13, 2026.
