Frances Kay Propps

June 2, 1935– April 3, 2025

Frances Kay “Kay” Propps, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 3, 2025, in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Born June 2, 1935, in Dill City, Oklahoma, Kay was the daughter of Verna and Van Alford. She graduated from Dill City High School in 1953 and went on to attend Oklahoma State University, earning her degree in 1957. In 1956, she married Coy Propps, and together they began a life rooted in love and service.

Kay began her teaching career in Oklahoma before moving to Arizona in 1964. She spent nearly three decades teaching home economics at Avondale Junior High, where she touched the lives of countless students before retiring in 1992.

In 1997, she returned to her hometown of Dill City to care for her mother until her passing in 2006.

In the years that followed, she remained a steady, loving presence in the lives of her family, traveling when she could to support and help care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Coy Propps, her brother Von Dee Alford, and her daughter Vanya Propps-Osborn.

She is survived by her daughter Babette Renee Propps, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Kay will be remembered for her devotion to family, her dedication to education, and her quiet strength. Her love and care shaped generations, and her presence will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Dill City, Oklahoma.
