Allen Jackson Finley

Jan. 26, 1937– Aug. 17, 2025

Allen Jackson Finley, of Binger, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. He was born on January 26, 1937, in Binger, Oklahoma, to Andrew J. (Jack) and FrancesA. (Nowland) Finley. Allen grew up around Gracemont and Anadarko. If you were lucky enough to hear his childhood stories, you would often wonder how his mother managed to keep her sanity. His father kept him busy with farm chores, which, at least occasionally, kept him out of trouble. After graduating from Anadarko High School in 1956, Allen moved to El Reno to work in oil field surveying. In 1957, he began working for a seismograph company, and after marrying the love of his life, Jackie S. Barger, in 1958, his career took them to Duncan, OK; Seminole, TX; and Hobbs, NM, before they eventually returned to Duncan. While living in Hobbs, he worked for C.R. Anthony Company, beginning what would become a long career in retail. In 1966, Allen took a managerial position with Anthony’s in Hollis, OK, and in 1973 he and his family moved to Cordell, where he managed Anthony’s until 1985. After 30 years in retail, Allen returned to fulltime farming, something he had always loved. He enjoyed weekends at the farm, especially peanut harvest, where he partnered with Jackie’s parents, Hack and Carmen Barger, raising cattle and growing peanuts. Allen loved working in the fields, repairing equipment, and sharing stories with neighbors. His greatest joy, however, was raising his three children, Kim, Mark, and Lori. He never missed a chance to coach a t-ball team or cook his famous Sunday breakfasts of pancakes, eggs, bacon, and fried potatoes. His grandchildren lit up his world, and he could not have been prouder of them. Allen lived a life of service and community. He proudly served in the Army Reserve from 1961 to 1966, was a devoted member of the Masonic Lodge from 1965 until his passing, and an active member of the Rotary Club. He also dedicated many years to running the Binger Community Center, where he shared his knowledge and hard work to keep it thriving.

Up until the end, he kept tabs on every detail of farm life and loved visiting with friends over coffee at Crainco in Binger. Allen never met a stranger and never missed an opportunity to make a new friend.

Allen is survived by his children, Kim Finley and partner Rita Troyer of Lookeba; Mark Finley and wife Cristy of Oklahoma City; and Lori Gossen and husband Scot of Yukon. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew Dunlap of Yukon; Abagail Finley of Oklahoma City; Lilly Finley of Oklahoma City; Cassidy Thompson and husband Cole of Oklahoma City; Harley Gossen and wife DeAnn of Tahlequah; and Michelle Troyer and partner Lionel Ramos of San Angelo, Texas. His great-grandchildren, Jace and Jensen Troyer-Ramos, were the newest lights of his life. Allen is also survived by his siblings, Leroy Finley and wife Irene of Pink; Ibbie Huffine and husband Phil of Blanchard; and Glenn Finley of Verden, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. He cherished the loyalty of his longtime farm foreman, Charles Van Camp.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jackie Finley; his parents, Jack and Frances Finley; his in-laws, Hack and Carmen Barger; and his brothers, Charles, Ray, and William Finley.

Allen’s life was one of family, faith, hard work, and love for his community. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and deep devotion to those he loved.
