Dill Work and Play OHCE Meeting News

JANUARY

The Dill Work and Plav OHCE met January 13. 2026 in the Dill City. Community. Center. Jane Called the meeting to order and Lowayne Piercey led the group saying the Pledge to the Flag. Anna Prickett led the group singing The Little Brown Church.

Emma Bingham gave the devotion ‘Spread the Love’ and called the roll with 7 answering with Preparation for 2026. Emma read the minutes and they passed with corrections.

Jane went over several trips we could take this year. 1. Go to El Reno and visit the El Reno Fort and several other sights there 2. Blair and visit the Antique Building and Snack Room, 3. OKC Stockyard, OKC National Museum 4. Route 66, 2026, Explore Oklahoma, and anything on Route 66. We voted to do something from our own personal history.

Jane gave several dates: County Council March 3 at the OSU Office in Cordell, February 12, leader lesson in Lawton, and OHCE paper work due to county by January 31. The members filled out end of year forms.

Member of the Year was chosen: Emma Bigham, Heart of OHCE was chosen Lowayne Piercey: and Jane was chosen to enter a picture and do a story contest.

Lowayne gave a 4-H report: The county Christmas Craft workshop was held and many projects were started.

Lowayne gave a report on the December County Council held December 8, 2025 at 2:00pm. Welcome and call to business meeting, Lowayne Piercey: Flag Salute and Thought of the Day, Brenda Bonham: Roll Call and Minutes, Paula Stafford: Business Lowayne and Kristy Spalding. Business: District meeting 2026: Washita County will do Goody Bags, Lunch, Bingo, Speaker Gifts, Sign in table, Conduct lesson programs, Furnish some program hostess, and more at the next planning meeting. Next County Council March 3” 2:00pm, OSU Office: Reality Check at the Canute School, February 25, 8:00am. Several volunteers signed up. Leaders lesson Lawton February 13 with snow date February 19. Tooth Pillow Sewing Workshop March 24 and 25.

Give Pillows to schools April 8 and 9 and or April 21 and 22. Emma Bingham and Lowayne Piercey from Dill Work and Play attended.

Cultural Art shown by Jane was a small sewing machine that played button and bows. It was from her childhood. Jane served refreshments.

Members present were Jane Shull, Wilma Gathreght, Emma Bingham, Anna Prickett, Anita Clayton, Sue Huddleston, Lowayne Piercey.

FEBRUARY

The Dill Work and Play OHCE met February 10, in the Dill City Community Center. Wilma Gathright called the meeting to order and Anita Clayton led the group in saying the Pledge to the Flag. Anna Prickett led the group singing Oh, My Darling Clementine.

Emma Bingham gave the thought of the day, “Love for Friends” using John 15:13. Emma then called roll, with 6 members answering with “Do you have a llst of emergency contacts listed some place?” Jane Shull sent her regrets on missing, but she was working at the election poles. Emma read the minutes and they were approved, with updated dates.

Lowayne Piercey gave several dates, February 12 Leaders Lesson was cancelled and the leader lesson was rescheduled for February 17. The state office informed the clubs we should have county lesson meetings rather than district. County Council will be March 3rd at 2:00, in Cordell at the OSU Office. Lowayne volunteered to furnish a snack and we will stuff goody bags for District during County Council. Reality Check will be held for the Canute School, February 25, at 9:00, and members volunteered to help. District Meeting will be held at Lawton March 12 and 13. Tooth Pillows sewing workshop will be held March 24 and 25, from 9am until 3pm, everyone is invited to help. The tooth pillows will be given to Kindergarten Children April 8th and 9th.

Lowayne reported 6 members will receive perfect attendance for 2025.

Lowayne gave a report on the 4-H Share-the-Fun. It was held February 2, at the Burns Flat Dill City School, with 20 entries, and it was fun. We have some good talent in our county.

Emma gave the program “The Vial of Life.” Each member was given a Vial of Life Form to fill out, giving important information about medical history, medicine, and other facts to help emergency care givers. This form is to be placed in a plastic bag and be put on the refrigerator. All members plan to carry out this mission. The group held a good discussion and some good ideas were shared.

Cultural Art was shown by Anita. It was a display of broches on velvet from her mother, grandmother and great grandmother. We spent quite a bit of time looking and enjoying.

Emma Bingham served a delicious fruit and nut tray to Wilma Gathright, Anna Prickett, Anita Clayton, Sue Huddleston, and Lowayne Piercey.

MARCH

The Dill Work and Play OHCE met March 3, 2026 after the County Council in the Extension Meeting Room, at 4pm, in Cordell, at the OSU Extension Office at Cordell. Jane brought the meeting to order as we finished shacks from the Council meeting.

We had the prayer and went straight to the thought of the day. Emma Bingham called the roll and 7 answered with “Have you ever made homemade laundry soap?” Emma read the minutes and they were corrected and approved.

Jane Shull gave the updates on upcoming events. OHCE South Region West District meeting March 12 and 13, at Qt. Mountain State Park Lodge. The meeting will start with bingo Thursday night March 12, and the business meeting and educational programs will start Friday morning with breakfast. Members discussed all our responsibilities for the District Meeting. The Tooth Fairy Pillows and Quilt sewing workshop will be March 23 and 24 at 9 to 3 with potluck lunch. The pillows will be given in April.

The April leaders lesson will be March 30 at 10am at the OSU Office in Cordell. The lesson is Able Tech.

Wilma Gathright gave the lesson on Pure and Simple Suds. It is interesting and we may even make a batch. We showed Brenda Bonham’s quilt she made and donated for the district bingo prize, for cultural art. Wilma Gathright, Jane Shull, Emma Bingham, brought refreshments and Sue Huddleston, Anita Clayton, Anna Prickett, and Lowayne Piercey all were in attendance.

The meeting was dismissed with the Lords Prayer and we joined the other groups to stuff goodie bags for County Council.

APRIL

The Dill Work and Play OHCE met April 14, 2026 at 1:30, in the Dill City Community Center. Jane Shull called the meeting to order. Anita Clayton led the Pledge to the Flag of United States.

Jane gave the Thought of the Day, “He ask so little and gives so much.” The group sang Happy Birthday to Wilma Gathright. Ji: Lowayne Piercey called roll with members answering with “what task do you have a hard time doing?” with 5 members answering. She also read the minutes from the March meeting. Jane gave a Treasurers report. Wilma Gathright gave a Point from the Parliamentarian.

Anna Prickett called from her trip to Niagara Falls to wish Wilma a happy birthday and she informed us she had a fall and was still enjoying her vacation.

Emma Binghman called and wished Wilma a happy birthday.

Lowayne gave a 4-H report. The 4-H Speech was held at Canute and Burns Flat Dill City 4-H had entries. 4-H members are now doing record books due the last of April. 4-H Meat Judging Team are busy with contest and are doing well.

The South Region-West District held a report and final planning meeting April 7, at Hobart, Jane and Lowayne attended and reported all reports on the District Meeting were good.

Report on the Tooth Fairy Pillows were made 150+ Anna, Jane, and Lowayne helped. Pillows were given to all Kindergarten Children of Washita County. All Washita OHCE Groups had representatives to hand out pillows, tooth brush, tooth paste, brushing chart, instruction sheet, and read a Tooth Fairy book along with tooth brushing instructions. Lowayne Piercey from Dill work and Play was involved. Pillows were given to Canute and Burns Flat Dill City on Wednesday, April 8, and Sentinel and Cordell Thursday, April 9 Lowayne gave the April Lesson “Oklahoma ABLE Tech.” This is a program that makes equipment accessible for people with ability needs. Assistive technology (AT) is any item, device, or piece of equipment used to maintain or improve a person’s capabilities, allowing them to function more independently in completing education, employment, recreation, and daily living activities. Oklahoma State University Department of Wellness toll-free (800)-257-1705 or Oklahoma City (405)-967-6010. They loan equipment for 6 weeks or help you find items.

State projects were discussed: Walking More, Encourage involvement in Community voting, food mobile, Eating-food choices-eat fresh and frozen, and Mental decline-physical activity Helps, be with people (even talk on phone). We plan to be involved, have projects, or practice the ideas as a club. We will plan a trip and activities for OHCE week next meeting.

Wilma showed her life support for Cultural Art. Jane served Birthday Cake and nuts, Lowayne served pop and water for refreshments.

The meeting was dismissed with the Lord’s Prayer.

MAY

The Dill Work and Play OHCE met May 12, 2026 in the Dill City Community Center in Dill City.

Jane Shull called the meeting to order at 1:30pm and expressed she was glad to see the members. Anna Prickett led the group singing My Blue Heaven.

Emma Bingham led the Pledge to the Flag and gave the thought of the day, from Psalms 118:1-4, “Joy.” Emma called roll with the question, “Where is your favorite place to visit on Route 66? Emma read the minutes from the April meeting and they were approved.

Anna gave the treasures report and collected money for projects and cookbooks.

Jane went over the County Newsletter. The State OHCE meeting will be held July 12 thru 14. Lowayne Piercey gave a 4-H report: A short summery of 202526, 200 Heart pillows for Breast Cancer Patients, 250 Patriotic cards for the Veteran’s Center, 250 Valentine Cards and Christmas Cards, Built and stocked a Blessing box, and are keeping it stocked, Baked for first responders, Received the Noble Award 2025, Worked and visit the Oklahoma Food Bank, Cordell Home and Veterans Center quarterly, and helped at the One Foundation with parents who lost babies.

They have had a very productive year with club meetings, personal projects, and county projects.

The club members discussed the plans in honor of OHCE Week May 10 thru 16. Members will Attended Church, Send cands or make calls, Give water to Burns Flat and Dill City Fire Departments, Community activities, Take food to someone, Give a scholarship to Evie Denny for $200, Hold a club meeting, Field trip along Route 66 starting in Elk City thru Weatherford, Visit Museums, and other historic spots along the way. We will attend Graduations, Take time with family, Be kind, Health check-ups, Attend local school actives, Read a book or booklets, Doctor visits, Invite someone to OHCE, Tell someone they are important to you.

Lowayne gave the program Celebrating 100 Years of Route 66. She went over some highlights and gave a very nice book featuring Route 66. After the lesson members went over plans for our trip and finalized our stops.

Cultural Art was Anna showed a ring from 25 years of marriage Anna and Jimmie will be married 68 years August 3, and Lowayne showed a l0year and 40year ring. Lowayne and Jimmy had their 60th celebration April 17 this year. Lowayne showed a Route 66 pin she plans to wear on the tour.

Anna led the group in the Lords Prayer and the meeting was dismissed.

Emma won the door prize given by Lowayne. Lowayne served peach cobbler and drinks for refreshments, and Emma helped.

JUNE

The Dill Work and Play OHCE, met June 9, 2026, at 10:45 and traveled to Clinton to have lunch together at Lucille’s. Lunch was ordered and Jane Shull called the meeting to order, and led an opening/ lunch prayer. We all wished Sue Huddleston a Happy Birthday, and Anna Prickett led the group singing happy birthday. Anna gave all present a book marker.

Emma Bingham gave the thought of the day having everyone tell something they did on old Route 66. Emma called roll with seven members telling something they planned to do this year on old Route 66. Emma read the minutes from the May meeting and they were approved. Anna gave a treasures report and collected project money.

Lowayne ask members to give a report on OHCE Week. All 7 members attended church, sent cards and made phone calls. 3 Members attended graduations, (Dill Work and Play OHCE gave a $200 scholarship to Evie Denny. She is a graduate of Burns Flat Dill City, and in 4-H.) The Dill Work and Play provided water to the Burns Flat and Dill City Fire department. Members held a regular meeting on Tuesday of OHCE Week.

Members spent time with family and practiced kindness. There were health checkup and doctor visits by all members. All 7 members took a trip on Route 66 and all plan to take more time in June and July on Route 66. Members attended school activities, read books, and reminded others they are important. We had a busy week.

The program was lunch and a visit to the Route 66 museum in Clinton. Jane gave a story about her father helping with the building of the museum.

Cultural arts was a visit to the gift shop at the museum. The meeting was dismissed with cake and ice cream for Sue presented by Lucille’s.
