WPLS welcomes new Cordell Library Manager

Western Plains Library System and the Cordell Public Library are excited to introduce Kaitlyn Goeringer-Evans as the Cordell Public Library’s new library manager. Goeringer-Evans is excited to be a part of WPLS and to help push the Cordell Public Library to become a pillar in its community.

“It’s evident how much the WPLS staff and administration truly cares for their communities,” said Goeringer-Evans. “I wanted to be a part of an organization that cares so much for the people they are involved with.”

While growing up, Goeringer-Evans family bounced around, settling for a time in Pennsylvania and Louisiana before she eventually graduated high school in Jonesboro, Ark. She went on to attend Arkansas State University where she graduated with an associate’s degree in interdisciplinary studies before life brought her to western Oklahoma. “The SWOSU (Southwestern Oklahoma State University) BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministries) Director Scott Hume offered me a job which I accepted,” said Goeringer- Evans. “That’s when I met my husband, Kendrick, whose family are all from the Bessie, Cordell, and Clinton area. “I’ve lived in Oklahoma now for about seven years, four of which I have lived in Bessie, and I can honestly say it is one of the most welcoming places I have ever lived.”

As the Cordell Public Library’s manager, Goeringer- Evans hopes to bring a new and fresh air to the library.

“I really want the Cordell Library to be an open and friendly environment that people will want to come to and hang out in,” she said. “I want it to be a good public facility that people will be able to learn and grow in.”
