The Cordell Blue Devils didn’t just bring the heat this week; they brought the sweets at their annual Pie Auction and Meet the Players event. In a show of Blue Devil spirit and support from fans, the football team and cheerleaders combined to raise just over a whopping $27,000.
When the final bids were tallied, the cheerleaders had whisked up $12,950.00 while the football team rolled in at $14,050.00. The funds raised will go towards uniform needs, athletic apparel, and travel expenses.
For the cheerleaders and Cordell High School’s Cheer Coach Brandi Eldridge, the money raised goes beyond the sidelines. “We also like to give goodie bags to other sports during their season,” she shared, proving that a bit of whipped cream goes a long way.
Head football coach Nick Bobeck was just as pumped. “The Pie Auction and Meet the Players went well. We enjoyed getting to be in the community and appreciate all the support they show,” he said.
Fans won’t have to wait long for their first taste of the upcoming season. On Friday, August 22, the Blue Devils will travel to Merritt to scrimmage the Oilers and the Hobart Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. If the pie auction is any indication, this year’s team is already cooking up something special. Go Blue!
