Washita County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee meet

The Washita County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee met with the Farm Bureau County Board July 29 at 6:00 for a meal prepared by Made From Scratch, in the count board room. The meal began with a prayer led by Jimmy Piercey.

Jordan Cook opened the Women’s regular meeting with the salute to the US and Oklahoma Flags. Lowayne Piercey gave a devotion God Is Unchanging, using James 1:17. Lowayne read the minutes from the laser meeting and they were approved.

Reports were given my members. Mary Peck reported she will be serving on the State Rural Development and Excelerator Business Board. The first meeting was in June and the board will have regular meetings during the year.

Baily Biggs reported attending the YF&R Conference in Ada, Oklahoma. The group attended the FBI Agroterrorism, Buchaman Pecan Farm tour, Washita Valley Sod Farm, Noble Research Institute, Coffey Ranch tour, and Doc’s Food Truck Park. Baily informed the Women’s Committee, Washita County will be striving to have an active YF&R (Young Farmers and Ranchers Group starting now. The YF&R are Farm Bureau Members that are 18 to 35 years of age involved with Agriculture. Anyone interested contact the Washita County FB.

Lowayne gave reports on the State Farm Bureau Women Leadership Ag in the Classroom new program telling the Ag Story. The Women’s Committee voted to apply for a State Scholarship to help with the program activity in Washita County. A lamb will be the animal we have as a mascot. Lowayne also gave a report on the Washita County 4-H which she attended, Decorated T Shirts, Potted Plant Craft, Leather Craft, Jelly making class, How to make homemade Pizza, and which she didn’t attend a Beef Class. Lowayne and Jimmy Piercey Judged a dessert contest for a community gathering July 4. Attended the electric CKenergy business meeting, July 25. The Care and Share Group met and prepared 300 care packages for those in need. Also attended an Indigenous 2day graduation of Summer College Students and observed and participated in the excellent work of the students.

Jordan reported, she and Nocona Cook attended an OCA, Oklahoma Cattle Association meeting in Norman this summer. They and their two boys went to Africa on a family trip this Summer. Jordan and Nocona Cook will serve for Washita County on the Resolutions Committee in OKC.

The Washita County Fair was discussed and will be held August 20 thru 23. The Farm Bureau will sponsor the Barnyard Olympics at the fair August 21, sign in 6:00pm and the games begin at 6:30pm. All students are invited with groups of 3 with 3 age groups competing. Farm Bureau will have First Aid Kit information and will have an area display. Snacks will be furnished by the Farm Bureau this year to the school students that visit the fair during school visits.
