Dill City Work and Play OHCE

The Dill Work and Play OHCE met May 13, 2025, at 1:30 in the Community Center in Dill City. Jane Shull called the meeting to order with a welcome. Anna Prickett led the group singing My Blue Heaven.

Emma Bingham led the Salute to the Flag and gave the Thought for the Day, “Spring” using Isaiah 61:11. Emma called roll with the question, What do you do to keep your brain active? Emma read the minutes from the April meeting. The minutes passed with the change that only .01 of women live to be 97.

Anna gave a treasurers report ($355.30). Wilma Gathright gave a Parliamentarian report. Jane went over the County News Letter; Vaseline was discussed and the many uses, Jelly Canning Workshop is on the calendar for July 21, OHCE State meeting will be held July 13-15, in OKC, Champion Convention Center and Food Safety in Cookouts. The OHCE West District, South Region meeting will be held in our area March 13, 2026 and Washita County will be one of the counties to plan and carry out the meeting. Meetings will be held June 16, at Lucille’s in Clinton, and September 23 at Qt. Mountain Lodge for planning the event.

OHCE Week was discussed and Emma made motion to give water to Burns Flat and Dill City Fire Departments, and Wilma Gathright made motion to present 2 scholarships to Washita County students: Brance Barnett and Bailey Beggs. Motions were made to clear up our records. It was reported members saved water bottles during OHCE Week for Shannon from Sentinel for recycle art work.

Reports were made on the Leaders Lesson for July, September, and October which will be held July 8th in Mangum, Ok. Register and pay $10 by July 1st. Report on the Tooth Fairy Project was given and Pillows were given to all Washita Kindergarten Children. Jane Shull, Anna Prickett, and Lowayne Piercey, members from all Washita clubs and Kristy Spalding helped with the presentation. Pillows were given, tooth book read, demonstration how to brush teeth and chart and health information was presented to each child. Report on the new Washita County OHCE Cookbook; it is in almost last stages and will soon be copied and for sale. Discussion is being made on cost possible $5. It is not a large book but several favorites from county club members so should be fun. All three county clubs entered recipes. Report on the lovely tea Willing Workers gave for OHCE Week and Mother’s Day and all the Washita County OHCE members were invited. It was lovely and delicious tea party food was served. The decorations were just wonderful. Good visitation and fellowship covered the party for a special day.

Jane reported she was questioned by a 5th grade teacher from Cordell if we would help put together a quilt the class had made and we agreed some of the group would and Willing Workers and Modern Homemakers will be invited.

It was stated the Dill City Community Center is looking very nice. The question was presented; If the Dill Work and Play had given money to help the Center this year and the Treasure Anna said we had given. It was also stated meals have been very good and very good size servings.

Lowayne Piercey gave the program, Brain Health and Brain Games. May is mental health month. Every time you use your brain it helps keep your brain working. Games, reading, socializing, connecting, visiting, education, hobbies, spirituality, new environments, being active, and even games on the internet will encourage your brain to come alive.

Anna showed rose earrings from San Antonio, Texas she received many years ago, and Jane showed a picture of a lovely Peony. Lowayne gave the door prize won by Wilma. Anna led the Lord’s prayer and the meeting was dismissed. Lowayne served Lemon Cake and Apricot Cobbler, and drinks. Visitation took over.
