Weldon Ray Sawatzky

April. 27, 1938– May 16, 2025

Weldon Ray Sawatzky, 87, lifelong resident of Clinton, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully Friday, May 16, 2025, at River Valley Nursing Home in Clinton. He was born on April 27, 1938, to Otto and Marie Sawatzky near Clinton, thus becoming part of the bigger Sawatzky family with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Weldon grew up and attended school in Clinton, graduating from Clinton High School in 1956. He began his spiritual life with baptism as an infant in 1938, and confirmation of his faith in April 1952, at the Trinity Lutheran Church. The Lord guided him well as he met a Lutheran pastor’s daughter in Denver. He married Joyce Carolyn Reeg on September 9, 1961. To this union was born Greg, Alan, and Sharon. Weldon left an impression on many people through his various work opportunities including: U.S. Air Force Airman First Class from 1956-1962;Journeyman Electrician at Williams Electric Company, and later at the Oklahoma Veterans Center; Rural School Bus #3 driver for Clinton Public Schools; Farmer near the Washita River on the Custer/ Washita County line; and a Volunteer at the churches he attended— Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton, Peace Lutheran Church in Bessie, and Grace Lutheran Church in Weatherford. His faith served him well throughout his entire life in the good times and bad times including health issues, and the loss of his parents, siblings, and son. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his Wife: Joyce Sawatzky, Clinton, OK; children: Alan Sawatzky & wife Cathy, TX, and Sharon Van Allen & husband Craig, KS; grandchildren: Tina, Allison, Trey, and Josh; Numerous Family, Friends, and Church Members.

Preceded in death by his Parents: Otto and Marie Sawatzky, Son: Greg Sawatzky, Brother: Delmar Sawatzky, and Sister: Arlene Benton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Western Oklahoma Christian School of Clinton or The Peace Lutheran Church of Bessie.
