Last Thursday, March 13, the Cordell High School track and field team traveled to Stephens County to compete in the Velma Alma Meet under the guidance of head coach Colby Love. The team brought home six top-six finishes across multiple events.
Leading the way was standout distance runner Calliy Walker, who claimed two first-place finishes. Walker claimed the top spot in both the 1600m and 3200m runs.
Cordell also found success in relay events, with strong performances from Tralynn White, Kemper Woodis, Kinsey Gray, and Diane Palmerton. The 4x100m relay team earned 5th place, while the 4x200m relay team took home 4th place. The 4x400m relay team, featuring White, Woodis, Palmerton, and Walker, also finished in 4th place.
Baylor Moore rounded out the team's results with a 6th-place finish in the 300m hurdles.
Cordell High School's next meet will take place in Thomas on Friday, March 28. The junior high team will compete in Luther on Thursday, March 27, while the elementary track meet is scheduled for Wednesday, March 26, in Thomas.
