Memorial service for Maria R. Alvarado, age 94, of Muleshoe, Texas, is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday, January 13, 2025 at Center Pointe Church in Muleshoe with Jamie Johnson of Muleshoe officiating. Maria died Wednesday, January 8, 2025 in Muleshoe. She was born August 21, 1930 in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico to Guadalupe and Maria (Troncoso) Romo. She was married to Blas V. Alvarado, who passed away in 1978.
Maria loved to garden and her flowers. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays, dancing and singing at the church. She was a jokester and liked to be the center of attention wherever she was. Maria was an avid fan of the Texas Rangers baseball, the Dallas Cowboys and Chivas Soccer. She was an excellent cook, and her favorites were chile rellenos, albondigas and empanadas. Maria was always supportive, involved and giving, and loved her family. She was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista Church in Muleshoe. She is preceded in death by her husband, Blas; two sons, Guadalupe Romo and Guillermo Limas; a daughter, Maria Anita Martinez; a sister, Clara Salazar; two brothers, Roberto Romo and Alfonso Romo; and a son-in-law, Hugo Ortiz.
Maria is survived by her four sons, Mauro Limas and his wife, Linda of Cushing, Oklahoma, Blas Alvarado Jr. of Belton Missouri, Alvaro Alvarado of Cushing, Oklahoma and Eduardo Alvarado and his wife, Rachel of Muleshoe, Texas; her two daughters, Susie Ortiz of Dill City, Oklahoma and Esmeralda Reyes and her husband, Ramon of Tulia, Texas; 50 grandchildren; 81 great-grandchildren and 51 great-great-grandchildren.
