In an effort to continue to offer the best opportunities to our students, Cordell Public Schools has once again started the Family and Consumer Science program. Many people will remember the program as home economics. This program also partners with Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). This now gives the students of Cordell three options of a Career Technical education pathways.
One significant upgrade is the installation of a new HVAC system at the high school. This improvement ensures a climate-controlled environment, promoting a comfortable and conducive atmosphere for both students and staff. The classroom temperatures can now be individually maintained instead of the one size fits all previous approach. Hallways are now also being heated and cooled where previous there was no HVAC in this area. The initiative aligns with the school’s mission to prioritize the well-being of its community.
The High School gymnasium, a central hub for physical activities and events, has also undergone renovations. The introduction of a new HVAC system and a hardwood floor not only improves the facility’s aesthetics but also contributes to a more enjoyable and safer space for students to engage in sports and activities. Renovations have also taken place in the lobby and restrooms.
Elementary students will benefit from a new roof, offering enhanced protection and insulation. Over 20 new HVAC units were installed in the classrooms and hallways to ensure the best learning environment and climate can be achieved. The district. in an effort for safety and security, has recently installed over 70 cameras around the outside and inside the building. The hopes are that the building can remain safe and secure throughout the day. Third grade through sixth grade classroom furniture was purchased. The new tables are covered with a marker board. This allows the students to write and collaborate on top of the desks. Students and teachers are really excited for all the possible ways the new tables can be used. All classrooms now have interactive boards for the teachers to deliver instruction with the curriculum and the students.
The auditorium and elementary physical education facility are not left behind in these updates. A new HVAC system has been implemented, ensuring optimal temperature control for events and physical education classes.
