The Dill Work and Play OHCE met January 10, 2024 at 1:30 in the Dill City Community Center. Jane Shull opened the meeting with a welcome. Emma Bingham led the group in the Pledge to the Flag. Anna Prickett led the group singing “The Little Brown Church.”
Emma read the minutes from the December meeting and they were approved. Anna gave a treasures report and collected money for projects. Emma gave the Thought of the Day, Peace, For I know the plans for you, using Jeremiah 29:11-13. Emma called the roll with, “What is your New Year’s resolution?” Four members answered. Lowayne Piercy gave a Parliamentarian Point: all members are equally important.
Jane read a thank you note from the Samaritan Purse Boxes. The Dill Work and Play sent 12 boxes 2023. Lowayne made a motion we plan to make Samaritan Boxes a project for 2024 and Anna seconded and it passed. Jane mentioned the boxes make a difference in a child’s life and the little things make a difference.
Jane went over the Washita County Newsletter sent by Kristy Spalding. The highlights were food safety with power outages, January is national hobby month, OHCE leader lesson will be January 30, and soup and cheese ball recipes were included. The Washita County OHCE will have sewing days Jan. 17, 18, 24, 25, Feb. 14 and 15. Our sewing project will be tooth pillows.
Family health reports and thank you words were given by Emma, Anna, and Jane. Old business was reported and a memorial was sent in memory of Oma June Pitzer to Doctors without Borders and a sympathy card was sent with all Dill Work and Play names signed.
Jane announced the Cordell music group have started the practice for the spring concert and she will let know the date in the future.
Jane showed a cultural art, a shirt she bought in Ireland when she went there on a trip.
Plans were made for lesson leader and hostesses for 2024. Jane agreed to do the photo for 2023 and to write the life story. OHCE members 2023 Emma Bingham was elected and heart of OHCE 2023 Lowayne Piercy was elected.
Lowayne gave a report that the 1 1/2 cent sales tax passed with 90% and we were all happy. The reminder was given to make sure all your pipes are protected with the cold spell coming.
The meeting was dismissed and refreshments were served by Jane Shull and Lowayne Piercy to Anna Prickett and Emma Bingham. The 2024 Yearbook was given to all and a member volunteer hours sheet.
