F.Y.I

The First Baptist Church in Cordell has a wonderful youth and kids’ program at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. All kids are welcome. They also have a ladies’ bible study at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday mornings.

Congratulations to Jennifer Cary and Mike Reimer on their moves to bigger and better places for their businesses.

Things are looking up in Cordell and we can all be a part of it by buying in Cordell with people we know and love.

I attended the City Council meeting on Monday night and Seth Slaughterback presented a request for matching funds for a grant to purchase a new ambulance. The grant, if approved would pay half and the city would match the grant amount of approximately $118,000. There was no vote as it will be discussed further at the Special Meeting of the Council on September 25th.

The Council also passed an ordinance at the meeting keeping the daily rate for vendor permits at $25 but allowing reduced rate permits for multiple days.

Each week until the Pumpkin Festival I will write about a happening. Today it is the Bed Races. Each team will be made up of five people and the beds will be furnished by the Chamber.

The entry fee is $50 per team but you can win it back by winning the race. So much fun!

My brother Royce Lowber and I alongside Ken and Fay Waugh and Deloris Maddox won 2nd place one year and the Cordell Hospital won 1st. What wonderful memories are made at the Pumpkin Festival!
