BF-DC Weekly 4H Club Report

The Burns Flat-Dill City Senior 4-H Club has had an eventful summer so far. Cupcake Wars were held Tuesday, May 23 in Cordell. Our Club had 6 participants in the Intermediate Division and 6 in the Senior Division. Everyone had creative cupcake designs. Those taking home ribbons were: Brance Barnett, 1st and Champion; Kathryn Sirmon, 2nd ; Evie Denny, 3rd ; Joey Mooney and Crystal participation ribbons in the Senior Division. In the Intermediate Division from BF-DC receiving participation ribbons were Abby Sirmon, Braxton Barnett.

Five-County Junior 4-H Camp was held at Quartz Mountain. The counties participating were Harmon, Beckham, Kiowa, Washita, Roger Mills, and Greer. There were 89 Junior 4-H members.

Brance Barnett was a counselor and he also presented a hydraulic workshop, teaching about force and engineering. Burns Flat-Dill City members attending include: Brance and Braxton Barnett.

Leadership Training Retreat is held each summer to train State and District Council Members as well as State Ambassadors of their duties and responsibilities. Brance Barnett attended LTR in Stillwater, June 6-8, representing the West District as Reporter, and Oklahoma State 4-H as a newly appointed State Ambassador.

Brance returned to Stillwater June 15 to interview for the State 4-H Hall of Fame. He was chosen as a Blue Group Winner, meaning he is in the top 10 for Hall of Fame with his record book.

Kathryn Sirmon was an alternate for interviews with her ‘Dog’ Project record book.

There will be 2 BF-DC Senior members participating in the Market Place at the State Parent Volunteer Conference, Saturday, June 24. Evie Denny will have an informational booth about her Heart-to-Heart Civic Engagement Project. Brance Barnett will have a showing of leather and award products for his Entrepreneur Project Capitol Camp is a 4-H/FFA mock legislation session to show participants how the government works sponsored by Farm Bureau. The camp will be held June 27 and 28 at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City. Brance Barnett is participating for the second year.

Washita County record books are due July 1, 2023 at the Extension office.
