Pardon the three-ring-binder sheets, and the natural longhand writing. I am 97 years old and still maturing.
I wanted to congratulate Hector Lucas on his coverage of Kaleb Selman being appointed as the new agriculture teacher at Cordell Highschool.
I grew up on the Harper Farm, one mile south and half a mile west of Cordell. I graduated from Cordell High School in May of 1941. My father and mother, Grace and Walter Green, had the fa cilities for an eight cow grade-A dairy until 1942.
My four years of study under G.E. Gaines’s vo-ag program prepared me for September enrollment at Oklahoma State in September of 1941.
World War II interrupted my studies, but on July 28,1947 I graduated.
On August 4, 1947 I accepted the position as the vo-ag teacher at the Dill City, OK highschool. This was only eight miles from where I grew up.
On July 1, 1950 I accepted the vo-ag position in the Lawton Highschool.
Seven years later I resigned to start a business career.
In 1983 I sold my Muskogee seed company and retired.
On October 1, 2007 I lost my wife of 64 years.
We had two daughters who have successful businesses here close to me in Muskogee.
Thank you for bringing back many wonderful thoughts.
