On February 9,2026, the Cordell 4-H group visited 1491 Produce. Linda and Eric Harbin showed us their plants. They have a hydroponic growing operation. They don’t use soil for their plants. They use what’s called Perlite. Perlite looks like little white crystals.

Sherry Nightengale, Washita County Treasurer, has announced she will seek re-election when the filing period opens in April. Nightengale has worked in the Treasurer’s Office since 2001 and was appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to serve as Treasurer beginning on August 1, 2016.

Sorghum Briefing for Farmers This Thursday in Weatherford

The Oklahoma Sorghum Commission and Association, in partnership with Oklahoma State University Extension, will host an informational meeting and lunch for farmers from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday (March 5) at the Stafford Air & Space Museum, Explorers Room, 3000 Logan Road in Weatherford.

The colorful pedestrian bridge at Cordell City Park, long recognized for its nostalgic shades of red, yellow, and green, has been removed from its original location for safety reasons.City crews recently removed the aging structure and cleaned the area to ensure visitor safety.

Cordell Mid-Level Academic Team headed to State Competition

Cordell’s 7th and 8th grade Academic Team recently qualified for the state level competition, ‘Challenge of the Champions,’ which will be held on March 7, 2026 at Redlands Community College in El Reno.

First Baptist Church to host concert by Singing Churchwomen

Over 100 Singing Churchwomen and musicians will perform this Sunday night at First Baptist Church, Cordell, located and 2nd and College, at 6:00 pm.Among those is Debbie Wedel, who is a Cordell native. Those participating are from Baptist churches all over Western and Central Oklahoma.
