Washita County Commissioners’ Minutes

Now on the 23rd day of March 2026, the County Commissioners in and for Washita County met in a regular session with Chairman Chandler calling the meeting to order.

Chairman Chandler asked Kristen Dowell, County Clerk, for roll call. Roll call was answered by Gossen, present; Gray, present; Chandler, present.

Prayer was led by Chairman Chandler. The Board reviewed the minutes of the March 16, 2026 regular meeting. Motion made by Gray seconded by Gossen to approve the minutes as presented. Gossen, yes; Gray, yes; Chandler, yes.

Kevin Rozell, Sheriff, discussed the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) 287(g) program with the Board including the process and required forty hours of training. Motion made by Chandler seconded by Gossen to approve the Memorandum of Agreement between the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Washita County Sheriff’s Office for the implementation of ICE’s 287(g) program. The Elected Officials held the quarterly risk assessment meeting required by the State Auditor’s Office. Items which need addressed within the county were discussed including the jail lock control system at the Washita County Justice Center, the heat and air system at the Courthouse, the chairs in each of the Courtrooms, the OSU Extension office location, and a drain at the Washita County Activity Center. Also discussed were the current revenue collections and expenses of the general fund along with a projected cash fund balance using current and estimated revenues and expenses. The implementation of a safety manual as a requirement of the county’s workers compensation, property, and liability insurance was discussed and will be placed on the next agenda for approval. No action was taken.
