Rusty Bookout has announced his candidacy for reelection as Washita County Assessor, seeking to continue serving the citizens of Washita County with fairness, transparency, and dedication.
Bookout stated, “I currently serve as the County Assessor and have experience and a strong understanding of the responsibilities of the office. During my tenure, my office and I have focused on maintaining accurate property records and ensuring that all property is assessed fairly and equally in accordance with Oklahoma law.”
Bookout said, “I believe the responsibility of the Assessor’s Office is to ensure that every taxpayer is treated fairly. We have worked to provide accurate valuations while also being available to assist residents with any questions or concerns they may have. Under my leadership, the Assessor’s Office has continued regular field reviews and worked with professional appraisal services to properly assess complex properties such as oil and gas and wind energy assets. My office and I have also placed an emphasis on helping residents understand and apply for exemptions, including homestead and 100% disabled veterans’ exemptions.”
Bookout continued, “If reelected, we will continue to prioritize accuracy, accountability, and customer service within the office. I am greatly appreciative of the support we have received from the community in the last two years of my tenure. It is truly an honor to serve the people of Washita County. I respectfully ask for your continued support and the opportunity to keep working on behalf of all citizens of Washita County. lf you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at (580) 660-5348.”
