Celebrate ten years of giving with the Cordell Elementary Pajama Drive

Are you looking to get on Santa’s nice list this year? Consider donating a pair of new pajamas to The Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive. This Christmas season will mark the tenth year Chanda Powers and her husband, Travis Powers, have participated in the pajama drive.

The Pajama Program is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. They specialize in promoting the importance of a comforting bedtime routine and healthy sleep for all children, especially those in need, to help them grow and thrive. Powers has stated that this project is very near and dear to her and Travis’ hearts. Powers has previously expressed that she reminds her students of all the good they are doing. She lets them know their donation makes a difference to those in need.

Mrs. Powers and Travis will take the donated pajamas to the City Rescue Mission in Oklahoma City, where they will aid in helping children ages 0-18 facing adversity. Housing instability, low family income, and other crises make them uniquely vulnerable as bedtime approaches. Too many children today do not get the sleep they need each night, thereby compromising their health, school performance, and emotional well-being. Sleep is as essential as proper nutrition and exercise for helping children to learn, grow, and thrive to the best of their ability. A comforting bedtime routine helps children get the healthy sleep they need.

Donating to the Cordell Elementary Pajama Drive can help provide a child in need with a comfortable, clean, cozy pair of pajamas this Christmas. The final day to make a generous donation is Wednesday, December 3rd.
