The Dill Work and Play OHCE met Jan 14, in the Dill City Community Center, at 1:30, for the first meeting of 2025. Jane Shull called the meeting to order with the Salute to the United States Flag, led by Anita Clayton. Anna Pricket led the group singing The Little Brown Church. Jane gave a thought, A sure way to a happy life.
Emma Bingham caller roll with 6 members answering with “What is Your New Years resolution?” Wilma Gathright called everyone attention, we had two new members this year, her daughters Anita Clayton and Sue Huddleston. Emma then read the minutes from the December meeting.
Anna gave a treasures report and collected money for projects. Wilma made a motion to give $50 to the Dill Senior Citizens to help with their expenses for 2025, Emma second and the motion passed. Ideas for projects were discussed: Foster Kids, Fire Departments, Scholarship, Tooth Fairy Pillows, Samaritan Boxes, Veterans Center in Clinton, and the 4-H, The Dill Senior Citizen. The money amount and what other services will be decided as the year progresses.
Jane gave some news from the OHCE County Newsletter. She went over the recipes and brought to attention, to our own Wilma had a recipe this month. A Promise to Eat Healthy article was included in the letter. Dill Work and Play held discussions on healthy eating, shared ideas and all members agreed to try to improve when possible. A 3 different month lessons, Leaders Lesson program will be held February 25 in Hobart. The register form and $10 to be turned in by February 14. Forms for volunteer hours are due to the OSU office by February 24. Kristy Spalding, Extension leader, ask if each club could have a chairman to keep volunteer hours each month in 2025, and turn with the news report. Lowayne Piercey was elected to try to fill this position. Other project lessons and entries are also due February 24.
Lowayne Piercey was chosen for Heart of OHCE of the year and Emma Bingham was chosen for OHCE Member of the Year.
Wilma gave a Parliamentarian Point. Lowayne gave a 4-H report. Brance Barnett gave the lesson to the Burns Flat and the Sentinel 4-H clubs on how to make a leather book mark and each 4-H member made one to take home. The Dill Work and Play members will be looking for a leather craft in the next county fair.
Lowayne reported the Care and Share donated money to the Dill City Senior Citizens Center.
Jane brought up the question for discussion: where the Dill Work and Play would like to take a trip this year. Some suggestions were made 1 Altus- tour the town and eat out, 2 El Renoincluding tour Fort Reno and some highlights in town, and members are to bring ideas and choose next meeting. The trip will most likely be for OHCE week in May.
