Summer fun and full bellies: CMH hosts kids’ free lunches

Cordell Memorial Hospital is once again serving up food and fun with its Summer Fun Summer Feed program, running May 19 through August 1. Designed to keep kids nourished and engaged while school is out, the program provides a free lunch, Monday through Friday, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., for anyone 18 and under. Visitors aged 18 and above are welcome to join for just $5 per meal.

Whether you dine in or take your meal to go, CMH encourages families to stay and enjoy the daily activities.

The weekly activities include craft days and coloring, Friday movie days complete with popcorn, and activity announcements on the hospital’s Facebook page during lunch service.

This summer, CMH is operating independently from the Food Bank, opting to implement its own system to better meet the needs of local children. One of the biggest changes this year is the expanded meal options. Kids can choose between the hot meal that is served to the community, a PB&J, or a turkey sandwich.

All meal options remain completely free for those 18 and under. Although transportation is not provided, the hospital hopes that families can find a way to visit and enjoy what is being offered.
