Washita County Farm Bureau holds December meeting and party

The Washita County Farm Bureau met on Dec. 14, 2021 for a regular meeting and Christmas party. Mary Peck called the Women’s Committee to order after a nice meal furnished by the Farm Bureau. The Flag Salute was given, minutes were read and thought of the day was given, “Freedom”. Reports were given: Charlene Thornbrough sent her resignation and note of what an honor it had been to be of service to the Washita County Committee and County. It is hoped at a later date to recognize her service. Reports were given on various actions of the Women’s Committee. There was a chicken education program given to five to nine year old children, sheep herd management education program for 12 to 14 year old children, provided veterinary services for 4-H and FFA members (drawing blood from swine entries), discussion meeting with state representative’s wives, meal delivery to local veterans of Washita County, and donated lamb meat for fundraiser to help local teen injured in a car accident.

The program was planning of 2022 projects and each member received the new 2022 Book of Works. The next project will be the JR Spring Livestock Show. It will be held Feb. 20 through 22 at the Washita County Fair Grounds. The Premium Sale will start at 6:00 with a welcome and the Farm Bureau will serve coffee, hot chocolate and water, as well as assist with the event. The meeting was dismissed and the party began with snacks, gifts, games and visitation.
