The Washita County Farm Bureau met December 8, 2022, at 6:00 pm in the FB office in Cordell. A meal was furnished by FB, made by From Scratch in Cordell. The meeting was opened with a prayer. After the meal the women convened to open the Women's Committee meeting. Jordan Cook opened the meeting with the US and OK Flag Salute. Lowayne Piercey gave the minutes and a thought. Reports were given on various Veteran's Day programs, all the women attended a program, helped, or visited and thanked Veterans for their service. Sentinel Leader had a 12 page insert recognizing Veterans for their service and The Cordell Beacon had an extended article of Washita County Veterans. All county schools had programs to recognize Veterans for their service and honor many. Report on Annual State Leadership meeting in Norman was given and members attending were Peck's, Cook's, Harper's, Piercey's, Jullie Kliewer, and Emma Bingham. Several Women Leadership programs were attended, Ag program, Legislative speakers, and Resolutions were presented and voted to approve or not. Good meals were served, along with fellowship and entertainment. Reports were also given on members giving class to teach to pre-k age children about lambing, home school class taught about canine cardiology, animals were tested and submitted samples for local FFA chapters. Mean was provided for a local church, and helped with several funeral meals. Washita County Farm Bureau donated to the County Fire Departments. Plans were started for the 2023 year. The Skill-A-Thon is planned to be held at the Spring Livestock Show February 26. Farm/City Festival will be held in the spring and Washita FB will help support. Washita County FB Scholarship will be due Fed. 1. Forms can be found at school 4-H and FFA Groups or at the County FB Office. OSU Extension has set Health and Safety Day for Oct. 10, 2023 and the FB Women plan to help. Plans were made to help and donate to local 4-H , FFA groups, and support local AG Boosters, and county school programs. Plans were made to help with the 4-H Bean Supper again next October. Further activities will be planned at the next meeting. The group was dismissed and returned to play games and have fellowship.
