Well, hello everyone! I apologize for taking an extended break from writing these articles. I was trying to navigate through some things and needed to focus on me for a little bit. Here I am though, and I want to share with you what I’ve learned since the last time I wrote.
The biggest thing I learned is that sometimes life just happens. Things come your way and there isn’t anything you can do about it besides “roll with the punches” or “let the water roll down your back”. A few sayings I’ve heard over and over again the last few months, but it has stood to be true.
I sometimes imagine my life to be like a surfer. I’ve never been surfing but I’ve watched a few movies with surfing in them. Anyways, you know when they are s w immi n g out, the water is calm, and they are waiting for the big wave to come in? Then they begin to swim out towards the wave so they can catch it and then jump on the board so they can ride the wave of a lifetime.
Have that pictured in your head? Can you feel the breeze from the ocean and feel the little drops of water on your face? Good!! Now, think about when they crash out and they are under that wave and the tide of it is just spinning them in every direction it desires. Kind of scary, but what do the surfers do? They hold their breath and roll with it. Knowing, at some point the wave with calm and they will resurface.
See where I’m going with this? Sometimes life just happens. We have to hold our breath and just roll with the tide until the wave calms so we can resurface. It would be nice to ride every wave and enjoy the breeze or water hitting our faces while we finish out the ride, but that’s not life. If it was then I probably wouldn’t be writing this article and we’d all be rich, but here I am and not everyone is rich.
This week focus on holding your breath, rolling with the tide, resurfacing, and getting back on the board! Christmas is here so money may be tight, you may be going through a breakup, or you’re conflicted with certain things inside of you. Roll with it, resurface and tackle, whatever you need to tackle, again.
I believe in you, and you need to believe in yourself. You got this!
If no one has told you lately that you are enough, you are loved, and you can resurface and try again and again……then I’m telling you that now.
Until next time my friends, Devon
