Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor, Well, I had hoped that Mr. Jerry Willard was happily enjoying himself on a beach in Florida or enjoying the cool of the mountains in Colorado. We had not heard his hateful rhetoric for a while. Like a bad penny he shows up in last week’s BEACON as mean and hateful as ever. I would like for this to discontinue. Mr. Willard got his girl installed as a new School Board Member. I believe that was easy to do after she threw a ringtail fit when some students got into trouble and were reprimanded.

Why continue the hate. Enjoy your moments of victory ... oh did I say a bad word.

VICTORY ... lol. .. If you want to hate the men that seem to give you grief go for it.

However leave their children out of your hatred. This has not stayed with the adults and you know how you have hurt their children and this is totally disgusting and totally unacceptable. The children have been exposed to this talk both at church and at schooL It is rumored that Mr. Willard is not even the writer of these articles. The Cordell Editor said that as long as you are signing the Letters and you do bring them in that they can only take you at your word that these come from your pen. Why don’t you try creative writing. Write love letters to your wife or write poetry or try cartoons. My brother is a retired professor from a large university. He said to lighten the moment he would often throw a Dennis the Menace joke into the middle of an exam. You might get paid if you have any talent.

Harken to the letter written to the Letter to Editors about a month ago from a military hero from Pensacola, Florida . Perry Unruh was praising a loved Dill City Principal that recentJy passed and was buried at Thomas. The class of 1962 and other classes were especially close to Mr. Duane Nicholas. Perry’s letter was read at Mr. Nicholas’s funeral and also a copy submitted to the BEACON. He was greatly loved and respected. I think kids are not taught to respect their strict teachers.

I graduated from from Dill City about 100 years ago -more or Less. Let’s go BJG D.

There were seven in our graduating class that were disrespectful to our Superintendent.

We thought highly of Mr. Grubbs hut we were seniors .and feeling our importance. In a tiny school, the Superintendent had to meet with teachers, salesmen and teach classes.

Mr. Grubbs was called out to meet with a salesman. We got restless and started talking about walking out, going to Clinton and eating at Pop Hicks. I think seven of us made the wrong and FUN decision to write “SeeYou Later Alligator” and piled in a car and had a fun day, UNTIL after lunch when we got worried. I and several others of us kids had to get to Dill before the busses ran. We got to school and Mr. Grubbs was waiting and he was LIVID.

We had to wait a couple days to learn our punishment. We chose 7 licks with the ‘board of education’- also known as the paddle. It was better than writing a book out by hand.

I wore several layers of cancan petticoats and my beloved feltpoodle skirt. Actually it did not hurt but I started jumping before the paddle met my backside. We were not little wimps. We did not think of complaining that our Superintendent was unfair or complain to our parents. My Dad would have said ‘you have been to the dance, now time to pay the fiddler.’ If the kids in Cordell who got in trouble had gotten the paddle, their parents, grandparents, etc. would sue all the way from Cordell to the Supreme Court and back again.

I hope Mr. Willard will get a happy life and stop being so bitter. Your girl got into office soundly. I have been anxiously awaiting to hear what glorious things she has accomplished. All I have heard thus far is she is going to ball games and playing with her chickens. She will singlehandedly turn this thing around. I can’t wait to hear.

For the records, I have the utmost respect for the Victory family. I am not acquainted with Travis as well as I am with Jalee and their four cute kids. He is a good family man and I am sure any corrections he would deal would not be harsh or unfair. Their family is in church everytime the doors open. He is a fine family man.

If my kid were drinking or vaping or didn’t have their grades up to par to play ball I would think parents and grandparents would want them to have correction.

I would like to see and meet you Mr. Willard. A friend said she had your picture on Facebook. I want to see what your face looks like with such hatred in your heart.
