The Dill Work and Play OHCE met Jan. 19, 2022 for a regular meeting in the Dill City Community Center.
Jane Shull called the meeting to order at 1:30 pm. Anna Pricket led the group by saying the Pledge to the Flag. Emma Bingham gave the devotional: “God Has Plans for You’” using Jeremiah 29:11.
Shull read “It’s a Wonderful World” from the book written by Helen Steiner Rice. Prickett led the group singing “The Little Brown Church.”
Bingham called roll with “Name one thing you enjoyed doing this holiday season.” Bingham then read the minutes from the Dec. meeting, which were approved.
Prickett gave the Treasurer’s Report. Shull gave a report on the County News Letter: Suggestions on how to get rid of the blues, shopping cart ideas; don’t leave your trash in the cart and clean for the next person. Along with other interesting tips.
Lowayne Piercey gave a 4-H report. Plans are being made for projects in 2022. one project was to continue the Back Pack for Cancer Project.
4-H JR Roundup had a good turnout. Dana Church will not be the County 4-H Leader after Dec. She is going back to her previous job. We all wish her well.
Dill Work and Play had three members and one guest attend the Five County Christmas Fun with Plaid. Prickett, Shull, Piercey and Pat Hartronft.
Shull reminded everyone to start planning for the County Fair. Shull led new business. She gave ideas for travel: a trip to a park or museum. One was a trip to the Indian Museum in Oklahoma City. Visit a historic place in Washita County and write an essay. Attend the Festival of Arts in Oklahoma City during April. Or perhaps visit Mt. Park and have lunch. Everyone was excited and we plan to visit more than one.
Election for the Dill Work and Play, OHCE Member of the Year: Anna Prickett, Heart of OHCE: Lowayne Piercey, and OHCE Rookie of the Year: Vickie Werner were chosen.
Pricektt was chosen for entry in the Photo Contest and Life Story. Leaders and hostess for 2022 were chosen. Everyone gave their birth dates for all to remember.
Cultural Art was shown by Emma, a quilt she found at an estate sale. We guessed by the material used, it was made in the 1930’s.
The meeting was dismissed with Bingham leading the Lord’s Prayer. Shull served refreshments to Prickett, Bingham, Piercey, and new member Veda Brown.
