Dill Work and Play OHCE Club News

The Dill Work and Play OHCE met Feb. 8, 2022, for a regular meeting in the Dill City Community Center. Jane Shull called the meeting to order at 1:30. Shull gave a report on her car accident last month and it was very stressful. We were all happy she wasn’t hurt badly. Anna Prickett led the group saying the Pledge to the Flag and led the song ‘Oh My Darling Clementine’. Emma Bingham gave the thought of the day, “Do Not Worry,” using Matthew 6:24. Bingham also called roll with the question, something we can do to lift our spirits? She also read the minutes from the Jan. meeting and they were approved. Prickett gave the treasurer report. Lowayne Piercey gave a 4-H report, the JR Livestock Show will be held Feb. 20 through 22, and a photo and poster contest will be held with entries on the 18. 4-H Share-The-Fun was held Jan. 29, at the Burns Flat-Dill City School and the BFDC 4-H clubs did very well. Report on the loss of Wilma Gathright’s sister was given and we decided the best gift would be cards, calls and visits to encourage Wilma. The Dill Work and Play presented the Dill Senior Citizens Center with $25 to help with the 2022 expenses. Shull went over the Washita County Newsletter: roasting meals, soup ideas and chocolate treats. Plus the March Leaders Lesson is Feb. 24, Washita County Council, March 8 at 2:00 pm and the South Region District Meeting will be March 25, held in Duncan. It was reported Kristy Spalding will be the full time OHCE/4-H Leader in Washita County starting in March. She had been Washita/Beckham OHCE Leader. Shull reminded members to be filling out their volunteer hour sheets and turn in to Spalding. Program Mental Health was presented by Bingham and was a very informative and interesting lesson. Bingham served refreshments to Shull, Prickett, Vickie Werner, Piercey and new member Veda Brown. The meeting was dismissed and the group had a good visit.
