Dill Work and Play Club News

The Dill Work and Play OHCE, July 19, 2024, for a regular meeting. Jane Shull called the meeting to order and Emma Bingham led the group saying the Pledge to the United States. Anna Prickett led the song America the Beautiful. Emma gave the Thought of the Day, Words are Powerful, using Proverbs 18:21, and Ephesians 4:29- 32, Good News for Everyone. Emma also called roll with “What is your favorite savory pie,” answered by 7. Emma read the minutes and the County Council was changed to July 30, and they were approved.

Anna gave a treasures report and collected money for projects. ($289.54) Emma and Lowayne Piercey gave a report on the OHCE State meeting. Emma and Lowayne both attended and attended business meetings and workshops.

County Council was discussed and Wilma Gathright will bring refreshments. The final plans for the County Fair will be discussed at the August meeting August 13 and the Fair will be held August 21-24. Jane went over the County News Letter: How to cool your house on a Budget.

Lowayne Piercey announced her grandson got married July 6, 2024 (Rylee and Dylan Bierman.) Lowayne also gave a 4-H report. Many workshops are being held and State Round-Up this summer. The 4-H is very busy. She also told Virginis Walker passed away.

Everyone sang Happy Birthday to Jane. After the fair we talked about having a Tea with Foss and possibly the county will discuss it with everyone soon. Report was given on our trip to Mangum.

Lowayne gave the Lesson Savory Pies and everyone enjoyed pie. Lowayne and guest Sue Huddleson served refreshments to Jane Shull, Emma Bingham, Anna Prickett, Wilma Gathright, and guest Anita Clayton.

The Dill Work and Play met for a regular meeting August 13. 2024 in the Community Center in Dill City. Jane Shull called the meeting to order at 1:30pm.

Emma Bingham led the group saying the Pledge to the Flag. Emma then called the roll with Name one thing you will be entering in the county fair with 7 answering.

Anna Prickett led the group singing “Oklahoma.” Emma gave the thought of the day “How Important Are Relationships?” using Ephesians 4:2-3 and Peter 4:8. Emma than read the minutes from the July meeting and they were approved. Anna gave the treasures report and collected money for projects.

Jane gave a report on County Council held July 30, at 2:00pm in the Extension Center in Cordell. It was decided to make Tooth Fairy Pillows and Pillowcases again this year. Dill Work and Play had 4 members and 2 guest attend: Jane, Anna, Wilma, Lowayne, Anita and Sue. Jane also went over the County Newsletter.

The group sang Happy Birthday to guest, Anita Clayton.

Jane shared an invitation to Grady County OHCE Craft Show, November 15 and 16 in Chickasha Oklahoma. She also shared the Becham and Custer County Fairs will be September 5-6-7.

Lowayne Piercey gave a 4-H report. 5 BFDC 4-H members attended State Round UP. Brance Barnett was elected State Vice President at 4-H Round-UP, and was in the blue group for State Hall of Fame. All the BFDC Group did very well in competition and participation. Brance and Braxton both won first place at the State Western Heritage competition in June, this is the first year Oklahoma competition for this contest. With winning state both Braxton and Brance were able to compete in Utah this month and both did very well. Six BFDC 4-Hers went to OKC and worked at the regional food bank great job. They have had a very successful and busy summer. The 4-H County Awards Program will be held tonight at the Washita County Community Center at 6:00 August 13. The 4-H Volunteer group will meet August 20 at 5:30 for the planning and enrollment for this year.

The Share and Care served snow cones and popcorn to approximately 250 at the Indian Nation Family gathering August 11.

The program for today was the discussion of the Washita County Fair. It will be held August 21 thru 24, entries will be taken, August 21 3pm to 6pm and August 22, 9am to 11am. We went over the fair list and each member told what they plan to bring. Looks like it will be a good fair this year. All members have entries and plan to work and also our 2 guest plan to help.

Cultural Arts were shown by Anna and guest Sue Huddleson. Door prize was given by Jane and won by Anna. Refreshments were served by Jane Shull to Anna Prickett, Wilma Gathright, Emma Bingham, Lowayne Piercey, and guest Anita Clayton and Sue Huddleson.
