Dill Work and Play

The Dill Work and Play met for a reg. meeting Sept. 10th, in the DC Comm. Center. Jane called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m. Anna led the group singing “I’m An Old Cowgirl.” Anna then gave a treasurer report and collected money for projects. Emma gave the thought of the day, using Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, for Everything there is a season.” IT was a good lesson. Emma called roll with seven answering with Name one thing that you know about a Mediterranean Diet. Emma read the minutes and they were approved. Jane reviewed the Washita County Fair. Lowayne gave the results of the DWP winnings, complete exhibit $16, best collection of food preparation $16, canning $16, clothing and home furnishings $16, and garden basket $6. We had a very good year and the fair was successful. All members of the DWP had entries and won ribbons. The OHCE silent auction did well and will help OHCE of Washita County carry on business and complete many community projects in the coming year. We wish to thank all who bid on items and those which bought items and making this year successful. We raised $712 and all OHCE groups were generous with their donations. Jane reported on county newsletter, technology and some of the pros and cons of what is coming and the impact it will have on our families. The OHCE sewing project of pillowcases for Washita County foster care children, Nov. 11-12, will be a come and go. OHCE cruise to New England States and Canada, Oct. 25-Nov.01.

We voted the DWP Nov. meeting will be held after or before the sewing: TBD. Wilma gave a parliamentarian point. Lowayne gave a 4-H report. This year awards were Aug. 13 and BFDC did well in all their accomplishments. 4-H week was Oct. 6-12 and many learning and fun projects were planned. Braxton Barnett served as representative to OYLA and State Capital Camp in June. Emma gave the program: Mediterranean diet instead if meds. We had a good discussion and al decided to strive to eat a healthy diet. Cultural Arts were shown. Emma showed a 19th century magnifying glass, Jane showed a ring with a butterscotch amber stone, and guest Sue and Anita showed a shirt presented by a foreign exchange student from Cambodia. Emma served refreshments to everyone. Emma gave a door prize and Sue won. The meeting was closed with the Lord’s prayer led by Lowayne.
