The Dill Work and Play met on June 10, 2025 for a regular meeting and lunch at Fred’s in Elk City. The first order of business was greeting and small talk. Jane Shull called the meeting to order at 11:30 with a welcome and Anna Prickett led the group saying the Lord’s Prayer.
Lunch and visitation took place for the next hour. To start the regular meeting Jane asks everyone to share a memory of something the club had done that they remember. Several good memories were shared and good times were brought to mind.
Emma Bingham furnished the minutes from the May meeting and gave a thought of the day.
Old business was discussed: County Cook Book update was given and several reported they had water bottles saved for the recycle craft. Jane gave an up date on the 5th grade class quilt, and it will take place in the Fall.
Reports were given on upcoming events, Leaders Lesson day will be July 8 with $10 registration due July 1st. It will be held at Mangum First Baptist Church beginning at 10:00. District meeting for 2026 planning will be held June 16 in Clinton at Lucille’s at 11:00. Jelly canning workshop will be July 21, 10am to 12pm in the OSU Office in Cordell.
Lowayne Piercey gave report on 4-H events. The Cupcake Wars were held May 20, and had a good turn out and fun was had by all. Brance Barnett and Evie Denny represented Washita County during 4-H Day in OKC at the Capitol, April 23. Speech contest was held at Canute with good representation from all 4-H clubs. Dill Work and Play gave Brance Barnett and Bailey Beggs a scholarship presented at the Dill City Community Center. Record Books are due this month and no 4-H camp will be held this summer. Several 4-H Workshops will take place thru the summer to fill the void. Jane gave a report on the cooking school held in Cordell at the Baptist Church.
Wilma Gathright gave a Point from the Parliamentarian.
Sue Huddleston shared her shirt for Cultural Art. It said, Believe in Who you are and Who you were meant to be. Anna Prickett shared a quilt she is making for this year’s County Fair.
The next meeting will be held after the Leaders Lesson July 8, at Mangum. Present today were Jane Shull, Sue Huddleston, Anna Prickett, Wilma Gathright, Anita Clayton, Emma Bingham and Lowayne Piercey.
